As long as there have been games, there have also been enterprising individuals looking for ways cheat the system. In the old days, it was all about ridiculous fun. However, as we’ve moved more into online worlds and live-service games with competitive elements, cheating has become a big problem. We already saw Bungie and Riot Games team up to take down cheating in their respective games. The annual blockbuster franchise Call of Duty has plenty to deal with as well. The same can be said for GTA Online, which is still one of the most popular games out there today. This time around, it is victory for the developers, as Take-Two Interactive has succeeded in taking down GTA Online cheat maker LunaCheats.

As reported by Dexerto, the monumental victory will result in LunaCheats shutting down for good. According to a statement left on the now-defunct site, discussions with Take-Two Interactive have led to the end of GTA Online cheats. There will be no maintenance, development, or distribution of cheats for the game anymore.

More importantly, all of the proceeds received from said cheats are going to a better cause. A charity designated by Take-Two Interactive will be the recipient of LunaCheats’ donations. The people behind the GTA Online cheat service also apologized for the problems the software has caused for legit players.

Track record

Of course, this is not the first time a cheat maker has bitten the dust when it comes to GTA Online. Back in 2019, cheat menu service Elusive also suffered the same fate. In Elusive’s case, the service was also slapped with a substantial $150,000 USD fine. Perhaps LunaCheats is not getting away with it just yet.

This will certainly not be the end of cheats in GTA OnlineHowever, any step in the right direction is a good one. At the end of the day though, you have to applaud the folks over at Take-Two Interactive for their approach to the situation.
